Physiotherapy
Holistic and Comprehensive
At Inspired to Move my approach to physiotherapy treatment is both holistic and comprehensive. I not only look to address the underlying causes of your issues but I also teach you how to identify and correct your faulty movement patterns.
When you come for an initial assessment I focus on these key areas:
⬥⬥⬥
1) Posture and Alignment (is everything in the right place?) –
My assessment is not just isolated to the area where you may complain of pain or dysfunction. My integrative approach looks at your overall structural framework to not only help identify issues you are currently experiencing but to also highlight areas of potential weakness before they start to manifest as serious problems.
At the conclusion of your assessment you will be aware of your current posture and alignment and how it may be impacting your movement and other aspects of your physical well being.
⬥⬥⬥
2) Muscle imbalances (how strong and how long?) –
I look to identify which muscles are dominant, over active and tight and which ones need more encouragement to start working in you body. Muscular imbalances are a problem because they place increased load on joints and associated structures thereby putting them at greater risk of accelerated degeneration which can also be accompanied by pain.
⬥⬥⬥
3) Motor Control (How do you move?)
I take great interest in how you move much more than the end result of your movement.
The quality of your movement determines how much improvement you will see in your body. My focus on precise technique and positioning along with cognitive re-education helps to produce improved motor control resulting in more efficient, pain free movement.
⬥⬥⬥
4) Life Style (What’s Your daily routine?)
In all my years of experience I have come to this conclusion, in order to see permanent real changes in the body, all of the above 3 areas must be integrated into your lifestyle and day to day routine. I am passionate about this final point as I know the more that I can change the way you do things in your everyday life the quicker we will see results. That is why I take the time to get to know your situation, your routines and the demands you place on your body.

Tailored Treatment Plan
From there I can best formulate a treatment plan which generally requires a combination of traditional hands on physiotherapy and specific exercise rehabilitation to facilitate motor learning.

Change your patterns of movement
At Inspired to Move, hands-on physiotherapy is not used as the solution to your problem rather it is simply a precursor to the movement re-education, or motor learning, that needs to occur in order to change your patterns of movement.
When this is done within the same session the changes you see and feel in your body are much quicker and pronounced. This is why, unlike most practices, the preferred duration of each session is an hour.
